When I first met Araceli and Brian, I was smiling from ear to ear. They were super sweet and I knew we would have such a lovely time planning their wedding details. The bride was super crafty and made alot of her own decor and I had a ball styling the prettiness. When she showed me her inspiration and that she wanted to use powder blue as part of her color palette, —ooooh, I got super excited. I love that color! I had stars in my eyes on the wedding day with all the fun details. The lace runners made by her mom. Those party favors. Her dress (wow!). Her hair. That veil. Sparkles in my eyes. Their giggles when they came into the wedding reception post wedding. Beaming. I was blessed to witness their blessed day.

Their wedding was in a pretty botanic garden in Palos Verdes and it was a perfect backdrop for their lovely wedding day. Even with the clouds that morning, I knew it was going to be a pretty one. The clouds and overcast were a blessing actually, which helped create the perfect environment for photos and styling without a canopy. A first for me, their wedding had a lunch reception–all complete with horchata, a “picnic” like lunch menu with bbq’ed yummies and a sweet surprise post lunch which were fruity iced desserts from Guayabana in Long Beach. (You must must try it!) I cried during the dances, especially with a tear felt mother son dance of “Be Careful With My Heart”. The groom and his mom embraced, crying together in happiness knowing a new beautiful journey awaits. Plus, that song was his mother’s most favorite. Tear jerker indeed!

What left me to tears and touched me the most was knowing how their love story began. During our first consultation over tea and one pretty afternoon, the bride to be described how she knew her now husband was “The One”. She said with confidence that she left that decision to God. And with prayers, she knew, because He knew. And with that, I knew that I had a blessed opportunity to witness a union of two beautiful souls, which was so amazing. And so I did, and I was so touched and honored.

Oh. My. Goodness.

So this is what happens when you have an itch to style on a spring/summer early morning and you just so happen to have a talented friend (Thank you, my dear Ellie for always being down for an adventure) who is willing to go on the impromptu sesh with you and do some magic. And nature did not disappoint. I kinda smiled when I got to this place, knowing Mother Nature was about to put on a show and we had a lovely bohemian muse to frolic in it. Oh my, Elisha kinda made my bohemian bride dreams come true. Thank you.

Really really really good morning lighting. Kinda crazy flower field. Styling in a middle of that flower field = yeah #awesome. Gods glory captured. I got giddy when a cloud moved so it brought back the sun, allowing the pretty colors of the field come to life and made this magical scene of pretty get illuminated. Ellie you’ve got eyes of wonderful and I had such a fun time playing.

Honestly can’t stop smiling at that flower field. Thank you God!

LOVE.WEDDINGS: Jenn and Jason’s Ethnic Organic Castle Green Wedding

Photography: Audree Jean Photography

Design and Styling: Oh Lovestruck Event Design and Styling

Day of Coordination: Desiree Russo Weddings

Food, Bar and Cocktail Signage: David Araquel of Beat Rock

Catering: The Parks Finest

Rentals: Line 204

This past July, I was so honored to work with a beautiful couple, Jason and Jennifer, to design and style their wedding celebration with elements they loved and details they adored.

When planning for their wedding design, we incorporated elements that both the bride and groom loved–all with simplicity, elegance, culture and touches of ethnic and organic elements.

To create a cohesive design, I was inspired by the bride’s love for things ethnic and organic (ikat fabric, touches of succulents and greenery and organic simplicity) and the groom’s love for culture and his favorite childhood book (a love story in a gorgeous, lush, organic setting) — which became the visual theme of the wedding.Coincidently, the color palette the bride and groom loved was the same color palette of the groom’s favorite childhood book! It truly was destiny and the details came together gorgeously.

We had gorgeous calligraphy escort rocks done by my good friend for many years, Christine Araquel of The Parks Finest. To tie in the book’s design elements, I contacted David Araquel of Beat Rock, and David did a gorgeous interpretation of the book’s design in all of the wedding reception signage—which became a gorgeous addition to the overall design. There were so many gorgeous spanish details at the wedding venue, Castle Green during our walkthrough—so it only seem fit to incorporate spanish details into the wedding design. We added spanish tile table numbers and had a generous amount of terra cotta in the centerpieces and party favors. The floral design was inspired by the book as well, with foliage, greenery, exotic colors and textures. We had a labor of love from the bride and groom’s family and loved ones, with the centerpieces and personal florals DIY’ed. I created a gorgeous lemon leaf garland for the sweetheart table and styled with mainly foliage and greenery. The food menu was amazingly delicious, made with love and provided by The Parks Finest– who also were close family and friends of the bride and groom.

Photography of this gorgeous affair was by the talented, Audree Jean Photography who captured dreamy elements of this gorgeous day.

It was truly a blessing to design such a gorgeous affair and work with a beautiful couple to make their wedding vision come true with dreamy organic, ethnic elements.

When my incredibly imaginative and amazingly talented friend, Jennifer Sosa of Jennifer Sosa Photography approached me about the concept of doing some tropical fun magic with Carmen Miranda as the star — WELL, I was SOOOO in!!

Carmen Miranda was a gorgeous, Brazilian dancer, singer, actress and film star with lots of pizazz, sass, and flare who had the most amazing, colorful fun outfits, all while wearing a fruity headpiece!!  Jen had a dream concept of using the elements of her style to execute a lovely engagement and wedding shoot with Carmen as the beautiful, Brazilian tropical bride!

The shoot was part engagement and part wedding, with elements of mid century modern and quirky, tropical details, highlighting the gorgeous Saguaro of Palm Springs as our backdrop. A mix of a little vintage, tropical and modern.

The shoot was also featured by the amazing Summer Watkins on her amazingly gorgeous blog, Grey Likes Weddings! We all are SOOO honored and blessed to be featured on this amazing wedding blog and SOOO happy to have the fun shoot details showcased! Check out the feature here: Carmen Miranda Gets Married Feature on Grey Likes Weddings

Heres a bit of Jen’s dreaming:

From Jen:

People often ask me why I love this woman. I reply by saying, “Have you seen her perform??” Carmen has a vibrant character that lights up the stage. She’s often noted for her eccentric style, and most notable for wearing a fruit basket on her head. hey, not many people can pull off dancing with a fruit basket on her head and still manage to look fabulous. I know I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The minimalist might look at her and cringe. I look at her and admire her character. She was so full of life! I dare you to WATCH HER PERFORM and not have a smile on your face. I’d love to spend an afternoon with that woman.

Checkout the amazing booklet Jen created just for the shoot, highlighting the tropical magic: Carmen Miranda Gets Married

Thank you to all the amazing artists who were part of this tropical dream — it was truly a blessing to dream up the amazing elements of this shoot with you all.

Thank you to the lovely Jen Sosa for letting me be part of this tropical dream come true!! It was truly an amazing experience to dream and create and do some tropical magic with you!!

Moonrise Magic, Part 2.
Had to share all the gorgeous details captured by Laura Izumikawa Photography of our Moonrise Kingdom Inspiration Shoot, featured on Green Wedding Shoes. See the gorgeous feature on Green Wedding Shoes here: Part 2.
As mentioned in my last post:
Megan Gray of Honey and Poppies created amazing floral pieces that were unruly, filled with wildflowers, airy and forest inspired. She even created a mini elopement bouquet similar to the one Sam gives Suzy, with touches of fun colorful florals and organic textures. The floral crown headpiece she created matched the amazing cascading bouquet she made for the bride to be, all with rope detailing and fun, bright florals, textures, wildflowers and airyness.
The ladies of E2beauty created fresh, natural and youthful makeup with a pretty, airy up do for Suzy’s engagement look and gorgeous, natural waves for Suzy’s wedding elopement look. Paired up with Megan’s florals, Suzy’s look was youthful and she was adorned with forest-y florals and foliage.
Since Sam (the groom) was a boy scout (who came prepared with his boy scout supplies at all times) many boy scout inspired details were used, with a sophisticated twist and added as gorgeous wedding decor–knotted ropes, boy scout supplies and mementos and campfire inspired details.
To sweeten the adventure, Merely Sweets created camp fire, smores inspired treats and sweets, all perfect for a boy scout’s wedding in the forest. Invites with an amazing forest backdrop and modern details were used from the amazing collection of invites designed for Love Vs. Design wedding paper goods.
It was truly an honor and blessing to work with such amazing creatives to create a magical Moonrise Kingdom-esque elopement and reception.
So blessed beyond words to make such magic happen.
